Just a picture of our front parking strip - this is the middle third, either end has vegetables - more cucumbers than anyone should ever want!
Sorry to be so slow to post - life here has been rather disjointed. A quick overview of the summer so far: Chris and Mandy rode Seattle to Portland (204 miles) in one day. I had a great time following along - even Nathan and Jenna came out to cheer them on. Nathan turned 5 this July - a big boy! Chris and Mandy rode Bike Idaho this summer - I'll let them tell you about that.
We have been working on redoing our deck this summer. It has taken forever with all the glitches. The good news is Chris and I had a great evening out there last night. Chris even fired up the Rotisserie on our new grill. Now we can start having company.
My Mum remains basically the same - still has left-sided paralysis and experiences a delayed swallow and has problems with her speech. None of this will change. She has her good days and bad. That being said, she feeds herself most of the time (with supervision) and enjoys her visitors. Her dementia doesn't seem to be going away - wanted to know if George Bush was coming to visit her! She is now officially on the list for a nursing care facility but that still could take another 3 months. We do not get to choose where she goes, only select a geographical area. Very different from the states. I am continuing to go up fairly frequently, my sisters and Dad need respite. We continue to have a family member present for all lunches and dinners - gets tiring for those in Victoria.
Chris and I are on vacation the second week in September. We will be relaxing in the San Juan Islands and then go to Victoria. Chris has graciously agreed to do some heavy gardening and clearing for my Dad. We hope to use my sister's kayaks and enjoy ourselves while there.
Ok, that's enough for now - Ginny
