beach thoughts

Chuck and I stayed at the beach until yesterday. On Monday it rained. We went up to the new interpretive center at Cape Disappointment. By the time we got out to the lighthouse, it had cleared and we saw the incredible expanse of the mouth of the Columbia. On Tuesday, we went down to Cape Lookout and hiked to the end. The birdsongs in the woods amazed us--varied thrushes and swainsons' thrushes. A couple from Winterthur in Switzerland came along right after us. And the lot was full of cars from Indiana, Wisconsin, etc. The Cape is magical. We topped off the outing with beer and dinner at the Pelican Bay Brew Pub in Lincoln City--fantastic beer and good food.
We're off to Wapanitia tomorrow for the long weekend. Hard to beat a week at the beach and then a weekend at Mt. Hood.
